Description
Azalea japonica, also known as Japanese azalea, is a dwarf shrub with a slow growth rate, typically reaching its full height after 10 years. Thanks to its partial leaf loss in winter, it can tolerate lower temperatures better than other rhododendron varieties. Its compact structure and dense form make Japanese azaleas an excellent choice for planting in containers on terraces and balconies. In gardens, they blend particularly well near ponds or water features, adding charm and a romantic atmosphere. Their abundant flowering results in entire bushes covered with flowers, and when planted in groups, they create beautiful, monochrome, or multicolored carpets. The flowers last for about 3 weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Azalea japonica ‘Signalglühen‘ is a dwarf, very compact, spreading shrub. It blooms very profusely, with flowers taking on a scarlet-red color. Azaleas require sunny to semi-shaded locations, acidic, humus-rich, and well-drained soil.
