About
Echinacea 'Passo Doble Fuchsia’ is a striking, full-flowered coneflower variety that stands out for its intense fuchsia colour and original, dense flower structure. Great for both ornamental gardens and bouquets. See below for a detailed description:
🌸 Flower colour:
- The flowers have an intense fuchsia-pink colour, very saturated and long-lasting.
- The centre of the inflorescence also takes on a fuchsia hue, giving the plant a uniform, full appearance without colour contrasts.
- The colour of the flowers does not fade in the sun and maintains its intensity for a long time during flowering.
🌼 Flower structure:
- This variety full flower - The flowers are made up of several layers of tongue-shaped petals.
- The central part of the flower is heavily filled with tiny petals, creating a ‘pompom’ effect.
- The outer petals are long and broad, slightly curved downwards, adding volume to the flower.
- The flowers are approximately 8–10 cm and are very durable - both on the plant and after cutting.
- Flowering takes place during July-September.
🌿 Plant habit:
- The plant has compact, upright habit, with strong stems that hold the weight of the flowers well.
- It reaches a height of approx. 50–60 cm and a width of approximately 40 cm.
- Forms compact, well-branched clumps that maintain a nice shape throughout the season.
Requirements:
Conflowers are relatively easy plants to grow. They prefer a sunny position and the soil should be well-drained, humus and moist. The plants tolerate a wide range of soil pH, but grow best in soils with a pH close to neutral. They require a moderate amount of moisture, but do not tolerate excess water.
Characteristics:
Coneflowers are distinguished by their effective appearance, making them an excellent addition to flower gardens, flowerbeds and naturalistic gardens. Their flowers attract a range of pollinating insects, including bees and butterflies, adding life to the garden. Echinacea flowers can be cut and used in bouquets, adding to their versatility in garden space design. In addition, coneflowers are known for their medicinal properties.
Usage:
Coneflowers are widely used in horticulture and medicine. In addition to their ornamental qualities, they are known for their immunostimulating and anti-inflammatory effects. Echinacea raw material (mainly flowers and leaves) is used in the production of dietary supplements, teas and ointments. In addition, echinacea is also used in herbal therapy, e.g. for the treatment of wounds and skin irritations.
