Description
Magnolia x soulangeana is a hybrid of varieties Magnolia liliflora i Magnolia denudata, Bred in 1820-26 by botanist S. Soulange-Bodin in Fromont, France.
Magnolia x soulangeana 'Alexandrina’ to duży krzew lub niewielkie drzewo wysokości do 5 m. Wytwarza kielichowate przyjemnie pachnące kwiaty składające się z 9 zaokrąglonych płatków. Płatki (tepale) u nasady purpurowo-różowe, przechodzą w białe na krawędzi kwiatu i białe wewnątrz. Kwitnie obficie na przełomie kwietnia i maja. Odmiana ’Alexandrina’ jest bardzo atrakcyjna i popularna, cechuje się dość dużą odpornością na mróz.
