Description
Betula pendula ‘Fastigiata Joes’ is the first columnar cultivar of the bearded birch. It has a narrow habit, the stems are erect and grow out of the trunk at an acute angle. The tree grows to a height of about 10 m and older exemplars are characterised by beautiful white bark. The leaves are green, glossy and typical of the species, turning yellow in autumn. In spring, the yellow male inflorescences are an additional decoration.
It is disease resistant and undemanding to the substrate, preferring a sunny position.
It is ideal for small spaces - small gardens, between buildings or along narrow streets.
