Description
Cercis canadensis ‘Ruby Falls’ is a small tree growing to 2.5 m with pendulous stems and beautiful purple foliage colour. It is another hybrid: canadensis ‘Lavender Twist’ with canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’.
The tiny intensely amaranthine flowers appear in May on last year's and older shoots, creating an extremely decorative effect. The flowers are edible - they have a sweet and sour taste and can be added to salads.
The best site is sunny, warm, sheltered, fertile soil with a pH of 6-7. It tolerates dry sites. Suitable for home gardens and single plantings in small landscaped areas. Hardy to - 20 oC.
