Description
Hydrangea paniculata ‘Phantom’ is a variety that has very large inflorescences up to 40 cm in size in a rounded cone shape. The inflorescences are initially cream-white with time turning pink. They are set on fairly long stiff stems.
Grows quickly. The shrub is quite compact and reaches 2.5 m in height. It will be an ornamental in any garden. It is also suitable for making bouquets due to the long shelf life of the flowers after cutting.
‘Phantom’ is a hardy variety (zone 5), requires fertile, slightly acidic and permeable soil, and a sunny or partly shaded position. Annual fertilisation of the hydrangea results in very abundant flowering and juicy coloured inflorescences. The Phantom variety starts flowering in June and continues flowering until autumn.
As soon as the inflorescences have fully developed, we can cut and dry them so that we can use them for dry bouquets in winter.
It is recommended for gardens, for espaliers and also for single plantings.
