Description
‘Megan Marble‘ from the ‘Marble‘ line of the Helleborus Gold Collection by Josefa Heugera refers to hellebores that bear the component ‘Marble‘ in their name. This indicates that the leaves have marble-like markings along the veins. All hellebores from this line have names starting with the letter M, such as ‘Macy Marble‘, ‘Maddy Marble‘, ‘Mia Marble‘, ‘Mindy Marble‘, ‘Milla Marble‘, ‘Mona Marble‘.
Botanically, ‘Ice N’ Roses Megan Marble‘ is classified as Helleborus x iburgensis, which is an interspecies hybrid of several hellebores: Helleborus x ballardiae (H. lividus x H. niger) x Helleborus x hybridus.
‘Megan Marble‘ is an evergreen perennial that requires a sheltered, semi-shaded location with humus-rich, well-draining soil with a neutral pH.
The species name was given on the occasion of the State Horticultural Show in Bad Iburg, Germany, in 2018.
