Rhododendron 'Graziella' is an evergreen shrub of the species Rhododendron catawbiense, which belongs to the heather family (Ericaceae).
Produced at the Zymon Ornamental Shrubs Nursery, Catawba Rhododendrons are hybrids of the previously mentioned species. Botanically, the Catawba Rhododendron originates from North America and is characterized by good frost resistance and moderate growth rate.
In contrast to azaleas, also belonging to the heather family, rhododendrons do not lose their leaves in winter, and during extreme frosts, the leaves can curl into tubes.
When planning to cultivate rhododendrons in the garden, it is important to ensure several key conditions:

  1. The rhododendron requires a semi-shaded and sheltered position, protected from the wind.
  2. The soil prepared for the rhododendron should be acidic, rich in organic matter, well-draining, and moderately moist.
  3. Rhododendrons thrive best along the edges of small ponds, water features, or other bodies of water, where there is a moist microclimate.
  4. Rhododendrons definitely thrive better when planted in groups.

Rhododendrons dislike transplanting greatly, so it's crucial to prepare and choose the right location for these coveted plants. If you have any doubts regarding the selection or requirements of the plant, feel free to contact us, and we'll provide expert advice on plant selection.

Rhododendron 'Graziella' is an evergreen shrub with a wide, flattened-spherical habit and glossy, dark green, lanceolate leaves.
Rhododendron 'Graziella' blooms profusely in mid-May. The buds are dark pink, opening to become light pink, with flowers gathered in impressive terminal inflorescences. The frost resistance of the 'Graziella' variety is rated at level 6B (up to -20°C). Rhododendron 'Graziella' is recommended for planting in warmer regions of the country and requires good winter protection.
This variety has been awarded the Gold Medal at BUGA Cottbus 1995.
