Description
Azaleas, belonging to the genus Rhododendron in the heather family (Ericaceae), are valued for their beautiful flowers and decorative leaves. Their cultivation is easy, mainly due to their frost resistance, which sets them apart from Japanese azaleas and rhododendrons. They thrive in containers and flower beds. They can be planted individually or in groups, and they grow exceptionally well along the edges of ponds or water gardens, where the humid microclimate favored by azaleas prevails. They can also be pruned and shaped. Azaleas look exceptionally beautiful in May and June when they bloom profusely, and in autumn, they enchant with their colorful leaves reflecting all the hues of the Polish autumn.Produced at Zymon Ornamental Shrubs Nursery, azaleas belong, among others, to the Knap Hill group, considered one of the most valuable. Shrubs in this group are characterized by their large vigor and vitality, abundant flowering, and large flowers gathered in impressive inflorescences.
Azalea ‘Hotspur Red‘ is a shrub with an upright habit and large dark orange-red flowers. ‘Hotspur Red‘ blooms profusely. Azaleas require a sunny to semi-shaded position, acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil, and moderately moist conditions.
