Description
Botanically, Hamamelis intermedia (Intermediate Witch Hazel) is a hybrid of Japanese Witch Hazel H. japonica and Chinese Witch Hazel H. mollis. Witch hazels bloom when most plants in the garden are still in their winter dormancy. Therefore, it's advisable to plant them in locations that will fully showcase their striking blossoms and large, dark green leaves. Shrubs can be planted individually or in groups.
Hamamelis intermedia ‘Rubin‘ is an upright, rounded shrub with green leaves that turn shades of yellow and orange in autumn. In late winter and early spring, lightly fragrant, ruby-red flowers with narrow, serrated petals appear on bare branches.
