Hellebores (Helleborus) are perennials with an unusual blooming time. When most plants finish their growing season, the first flower buds appear on hellebores.
The earliest varieties start blooming as early as November and December, while others bloom in January and February, finishing their blooming period at the end of April and beginning of May.
Hellebores can be used in various decoration styles. They may be planted in gardens, preferably in partial shade under tree canopies, but also in pots or other containers for patios, balconies. They also make a great interior decoration, for example, during Christmas and early spring.
Some varieties are used as cut flowers due to their fairly long-lasting period after cutting. Hellebore flowers have a wide range of colours and a great diversity of shapes, as well as decorative, glossy leaves with attractive patterns.
The best location for hellebores is in areas with well-drained loamy soil, slightly alkaline pH.
