Description
Deciduous azaleas, belonging to the genus Rhododendron from the heather family (Ericaceae), are valued for their beautiful flowers and ornamental leaves. Their cultivation is easy, mainly due to their frost resistance, which distinguishes them from Japanese azaleas and rhododendrons. They thrive well in containers and flowerbeds. They can be planted individually or in groups, and they grow excellently along the edges of ponds or small lakes, where the moist microclimate favored by azaleas prevails. They can also be pruned and shaped. Azaleas in May and June present themselves exceptionally beautifully, blooming profusely, while in autumn they delight with their foliage, which reflects all the colors of the Polish autumn.
Produced in the Zymon Ornamental Shrubs Nursery, azaleas belong, among others, to the Knap Hill group, considered one of the most valuable. Shrubs belonging to this group are characterized by their large vigor and vitality, abundant flowering, and large flowers gathered in magnificent inflorescences.
Azalea ‘Berry Rose‘ is a vigorously growing shrub with large light pink and orange flowers. ‘Berry Rose‘ blooms profusely, and its flowers are fragrant. Azaleas require a sunny or semi-shaded location, acidic, humus-rich, and well-drained soil, moderately moist.
This variety has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
