Description
Rhododendron japonicum syn. Azalea japonica belong to the genus Rhododendron and the family of heathers Ericaceae. Japanese azaleas are slow-growing shrubs with a dwarf structure, reaching their full growth on average after 10 years. Thanks to their partial loss of leaves in winter, they tolerate lower temperatures better than other rhododendron varieties. Their compact structure makes them perfect for planting in containers on terraces and balconies, as well as for heathlands, rockeries, and gardens. Placed near ponds or pools, they add charm and a romantic atmosphere. Azaleas bloom profusely, covering themselves with colorful flowers, and when planted in groups, they create beautiful, single-colored or multicolored carpets. The flowering period usually lasts about 3 weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Azalea japonica ‘Kermesina‘ is a slow-growing, evergreen, very compact shrub with small, dark green shiny leaves. It blooms profusely with flowers of crimson color. Azaleas require sunny or semi-shaded locations, acidic, humus-rich, and permeable soil.
