Description

Deciduous azaleas are shrubs belonging to the genus Rhododendron from the heather family (Ericaceae), prized for their beautiful flowers and ornamental leaves. Cultivating large-flowered azaleas is undemanding, primarily because they are decidedly more frost-resistant than Japanese azaleas and rhododendrons. They can be planted individually or in groups, and they thrive in locations along the edges of ponds or lakes. They also tolerate pruning and shaping, and they perform equally well when planted in containers or flowerbeds.
In late May and June, large-flowered azaleas dazzle with a profusion of flowers gathered in striking inflorescences, while in autumn, you can admire their beautifully colored leaves reflecting all the hues of the Polish autumn.
Produced at the Zymon Ornamental Shrubs Nursery, large-flowered azaleas, among others, belong to the Knap Hill group, considered one of the most valuable. Shrubs belonging to this group are characterized by their large vigor and vitality, abundant flowering, and large flowers gathered in magnificent inflorescences.
AzaleaKoster’s Brilliant Red‘ is an azalea with a spreading and upright habit. It has seasonal leaves. The flowers are quite large, orange-red with speckles transitioning to a light brick-red color. It blooms profusely, with flowers gathered in wide inflorescences. ‘Koster’s Brilliant Red‘ is a highly decorative variety with great flower resistance to direct sunlight. Azaleas require a sunny or semi-shaded location, acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil, moderately moist.
