Description

Deciduous azaleas, belonging to the genus Rhododendron in the heath family (Ericaceae), are valued for their beautiful flowers and decorative leaves that change color in autumn. Their cultivation is relatively easy, especially due to their greater frost resistance compared to Japanese azaleas and rhododendrons. They can be planted both individually and in groups, as well as along the edges of ponds or water features where the humid microclimate favored by azaleas prevails. Deciduous azaleas tolerate pruning and shaping. They thrive in containers and flower beds. From May to June, deciduous azaleas enchant with their abundance of flowers, while in autumn, their leaves change color beautifully, displaying all the hues of Polish autumn.

Azalea ‘Whitethroat‘ to krzew o pokroju zwartym, szeroko kulistym. Czysto białe średniej wielkości kwiaty odmiany ‘Whitethroat‘ są zebrane w zwarte kuliste kwiatostany przypominające pompony. Liście jasnozielone. Kwitnie w pierwszej połowie czerwca. Azalie wymagają stanowiska słonecznego bądź półcienistego, ziemi kwaśnej, próchnicznej i przepuszczalnej, umiarkowanie wilgotnej.
Odmiana otrzymała nagrodę RHS Award of Garden Merit.
