Description
Hamamelis intermedia (Intermediate Witch Hazel) is a hybrid of Japanese Witch Hazel H.japonica and Chinese Witch Hazel H.mollis. It's worth noting that witch hazels bloom when most plants in the garden are still dormant. Therefore, it's advisable to plant them in locations that allow us to fully appreciate their striking flowering and large, dark green leaves. Trees can be planted individually or in groups.
Hamamelis intermedia ‘Westerstede‘ is a shrub or small tree with ascending branches forming a vase shape. This variety is valued for its abundant flowering. The leaves are large and dark green, turning striking shades of yellow, red, and orange in autumn. In February, ‘Westerstede‘ produces large intensely yellow flowers with four petals. The flowers are lightly scented and appear on bare branches. Under favorable weather conditions, the flowers can last until April.
