Description
Magnolia denudata 'Yellow River' is a fast-growing shrub or small tree with a spreading habit growing to 5-7m in height.
Because of its attainable size, 'Yellow River' is an attractive cultivar for larger gardens and landscaped areas. The leaves are large and glossy with a light mesquite.
The buds of 'Yellow River' are intensely yellow, opening in late April. The flowers are fragrant and large, about 15 cm in diameter, light yellow with a cream tinge with thick fleshy leaves of the perianth. Flowers profusely in spring, sometimes repeating flowering in late summer.
Magnolia requires a humus, permeable, slightly acidic substrate and a sheltered, sunny position.
