Description
Quercus robur 'Fastigiata Koster' is a narrow medium-sized tree with a columnar habit. The branches are stiffly upright and dense.
It grows up to 15 m in height. As a mature tree it does not decay.
The leaves are dark green, turning yellow and brown in autumn, remaining on the tree until spring. Requires a sunny or lightly shaded position. It does best on deep moist, nutrient-rich, calcareous or moderately acidic loamy soils.
Common oaks are generally adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions.
A very valuable variety for planting in parks, estate green spaces and as an avenue tree. It can also be used to create espaliers and windbreaks.
