Description

Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris' has the form of a small tree with an erect and compact habit. It was bred by K. Parris in South Carolina (USA) in 1991.
Magnolia grandiflora. Magnolia grandiflora (Magnolia grandiflora) 'Kay Parris' is an evergreen magnolia with very decorative glossy leaves, covered on the underside with cuneate, giving them a two-tone colour. 'Kay Parris' blooms in late spring and summer. It blooms for a long time with huge up to 25 cm in diameter, white-cream and intensely fragrant flowers. The flowers, made up of several broad petals ( tepals ), open strongly during flowering.
Prefers a sheltered and sunny position with a permeable slightly acidic substrate. It overwinters well in our climate, provided the root system is covered with a thick layer of bark for the winter.
Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris' won the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) award in 2012.
