Description

Magnolia 'Ann' is a small compact shrub, growing up to 3 metres due to its slow growth it can grow for many years in a container. The cultivar 'Ann' is another of the hybrids selected by Francis de Vos and William Kosar in 1955 at the U. S. National Arboretum in Washington. It belongs to a group of magnolias: the 'eight little girls' Named after the daughters and wives of those working in and for the Arboretum.
Magnolia 'Ann' blooms profusely in April and May, and can repeat flowering at the end of summer ( VIII-IX ). Magnolia 'Ann' bears delicately fragrant flowers of medium size up to 12 cm.
. The leaves are light green and slightly pointed, flowering like the other magnolia varieties even before the leaves have developed. Flowers composed of 8-10 red-purple upright petals, the inside of the flower distinctly brighter. It should be mentioned that the intense colour and abundant flowering makes a stunning impression. The variety is quite frost resistant.
