Description
Magnolia kobus 'Rogów' or Japanese magnolia is a tree with a compact, oval habit growing up to 5-7 m in height. Japanese Magnolia 'Rogów' is a Polish cultivar, hence one of its characteristics is high frost resistance.
Blooms profusely in early spring, in early April. Flowers exceptionally large and fragrant with an interesting colour: white with a distinct purple stripe on the outside of the petals. The flowers open completely during flowering. The cultivar has large leathery leaves that turn from yellow to brown in autumn.
Magnolia requires a humusy, permeable, slightly acidic soil and a sheltered, sunny position.
