Description

Magnolia liliiflora 'Orchid' is a small shrub that grows up to 3 m high with a very compact structure and a regular, symmetrical form.
The fragrant and large ( about 25 cm ) flowers of this variety are extremely attractive. In shape they resemble lily flowers, hence the name liliiflora. The narrow, slightly twisted petals have a very striking purple colour, the inside of the flowers has a slightly lighter shade. It flowers in late April and early May. Recommended for small gardens it isquite frost resistant.
Magnolia liliiflora 'Orchid' requires a humus, permeable, slightly acidic substrate and a sheltered, sunny position.
