Description

Magnolia stellata is a species of magnolia native to Japan, and is, along with the intermediate magnolia, one of the more popular varieties in Poland.
Magnolia stellata 'Rubra' a slow-growing small shrub with a compact, ball-shaped habit growing up to 2.5 m high. The variety blooms very early in spring.
The flowers are small and numerous with a purple-pink colour changing to a delicate pink. The inside of the flowers is white. The greenish-yellow leaves turn yellow-brown in spring.
Magnolia stellata 'Rubra' is recommended for smaller gardens because of the growth and height the plant can reach.
Magnolia requires a humus, permeable, slightly acidic substrate and a sheltered, sunny position.
