Description

Magnolia x loebneri is a hybrid of the cultivars Magnolia kobus (Japanese magnolia) and Magnolia stellata, bred by M.Loebner in 1914.
Magnolia x loebneri 'Raspberry Fun' is a hybrid bred in Korea by C.F. Miller. It is similar to the cultivar 'Leonard Messel', from which it differs in having a slower growth rate and flowers with more petals.
Magnolia x loebneri 'Raspberry Fun' is a shrub or small tree with a spherical habit and up to 3 m in height. It produces very numerous fragrant flowers of medium size. The petals raspberry at the base turn white at the upper edge. Inside of flowers white, petals upright. Star-shaped flowers, tolerant of minor frosts down to -5 oC. Suitable for any type of garden - even small ones it is hardy.
Magnolia x loebneri 'Raspberry Fun' requires a humus, permeable, slightly acidic substrate and a sheltered, sunny position.
