About
Echinacea Sensation 'Orange’ is a striking coneflower variety with intense, warm colouration, perfect as a bedding plant and cut flower. Here is a detailed description:
🌸 Flower colour:
- The petals have a vibrant, intense orange colour, with subtle red tones.
- The centre of the inflorescence (cone) is dark orange to brown, which contrasts beautifully with the pink petals.
- The colour is long-lasting, saturated and does not fade even in full sunlight.
🌼 Flower structure:
- The flowers are single, with broad, lingual petals arranged radially around a convex centre.
- The petals are of medium width, slightly curved downwards, giving the flowers a subtly drooping, elegant shape.
- The diameter of the inflorescence is approximately 10-12 cm, the flowers are medium-sized and very long-lasting.
- Flowering occurs abundantly from July to September.
🌿 Plant habit:
- The variety forms an erect, compact habit with strongly branched stems.
- The height of the plant is approximately 60-75 cm and the width of the clump reaches 40 cm.
- The stems are stiff and support the large flowers well, so the plant does not require supports.
Requirements:
Conflowers are relatively easy plants to grow. They prefer a sunny position and the soil should be well-drained, humus and moist. The plants tolerate a wide range of soil pH, but grow best in soils with a pH close to neutral. They require a moderate amount of moisture, but do not tolerate excess water.
Characteristics:
Coneflowers are distinguished by their effective appearance, making them an excellent addition to flower gardens, flowerbeds and naturalistic gardens. Their flowers attract a range of pollinating insects, including bees and butterflies, adding life to the garden. Echinacea flowers can be cut and used in bouquets, adding to their versatility in garden space design. In addition, coneflowers are known for their medicinal properties.
Usage:
Coneflowers are widely used in horticulture and medicine. In addition to their ornamental qualities, they are known for their immunostimulating and anti-inflammatory effects. Echinacea raw material (mainly flowers and leaves) is used in the production of dietary supplements, teas and ointments. In addition, echinacea is also used in herbal therapy, e.g. for the treatment of wounds and skin irritations.
Why plant coneflowers in your garden?
