About

Echinacea Sombrero 'Sangrita’ Coneflower is an extremely decorative coneflower variety with intensely red flowers that is ideal for beds, naturalistic gardens and container arrangements. Its name refers to a Mexican drink - like it, this Coneflower attracts attention with its distinctive character.

🌸 Flower colour:

  • The flowers are intense red with ruby and orange tones.
  • Central cone - distinctive, orange-brown, contrasts with the petals.
  • The colour is long-lasting, not fading even in full sunlight.

🌼 Flower structure:

  • Flowers single, tongue-shaped petals slightly drooping downwards.
  • The distinctive convex centre gives them the classic Coneflower look.
  • Flower diameter about 8-10 cm, flowers very decorative and long-lasting on the plant.
  • Flowering: June to September.

🌿 Plant habit:

  • Compact, clump-forming habit - the plant reaches approximately 50-60 cm in height.
  • The stiff stems keep the flowers upright and do not lodge.
  • The dark green, lanceolate leaves contrast nicely with the red of the flowers.

Requirements:

Conflowers are relatively easy plants to grow. They prefer a sunny position and the soil should be well-drained, humus and moist. The plants tolerate a wide range of soil pH, but grow best in soils with a pH close to neutral. They require a moderate amount of moisture, but do not tolerate excess water.

Characteristics:

Coneflowers are distinguished by their effective appearance, making them an excellent addition to flower gardens, flowerbeds and naturalistic gardens. Their flowers attract a range of pollinating insects, including bees and butterflies, adding life to the garden. Echinacea flowers can be cut and used in bouquets, adding to their versatility in garden space design. In addition, coneflowers are known for their medicinal properties.

Usage:

Coneflowers are widely used in horticulture and medicine. In addition to their ornamental qualities, they are known for their immunostimulating and anti-inflammatory effects. Echinacea raw material (mainly flowers and leaves) is used in the production of dietary supplements, teas and ointments. In addition, echinacea is also used in herbal therapy, e.g. for the treatment of wounds and skin irritations.

Why plant coneflowers in your garden?

  • Easy to grow: Coneflowers are undemanding and adapt to different soil conditions.
  • They bloom for a long time: Echinacea flowers bloom from summer to autumn, allowing you to enjoy their beauty for a longer period.
  • Attract insects: These plants encourage beneficial insects to visit, which supports the ecosystem in the garden.
  • Health-enhancing properties: Their health properties can support the body's natural immunity.
  • Aesthetics: Hedgehogs add colour and charm to the garden, bringing natural beauty to every corner.

In summary, coneflowers are not only attractive ornamental plants, but also valuable herbs that are worth planting in any garden.
