Description
Magnolia 'Wada's Memory' is a fairly fast-growing tree with a compact, pyramidal habit growing to 5-6 m tall. A very attractive variety, with original white flowers. Produced in the '50s at the University of Washington. The variety received its name in honour of the Japanese breeder K.Wada, who sent seeds of the variety to the USA.
The flowers are fragrant and showy made up of 6 pure white petals ( tepals ). The petals are long and slender. Loosely hanging downwards, giving the tree an original appearance. The numerous flowers reach a diameter of 20 cm when fully open and remain on the plant for a long time.
Magnolia requires a humusy, permeable, slightly acidic soil and a shady, sunny position.
