Description

Azalea 'Professor Czekalski' is a showy Polish variety, which, thanks to its full pink flowers and high resistance to disease and frost, is a valuable part of the collection of heath plants and ornamental gardens.

🌸 Flower color:

Flowers are intensely pink, full, with strongly frieze petals, gathered at the tops of shoots in large, globular or slightly loose inflorescences. Flowers are larger than those of a similar variety 'Homebush' and form a striking, even pink bouquet all over the bush. The color is saturated and eye-catching, especially when in full bloom.

🌼 Structure of flowers:

Large, full, trumpet-shaped flowers with strongly wavy petals, gathered by the dozen in an inflorescence. It blooms very profusely in the second half of May, often before the leaves have fully developed. The flowers are long-lasting and tolerate short-lasting chills well. The variety is distinguished by good resistance to powdery mildew.

🌿 Plant habit:

A shrub with medium vigor and a compact, hemispherical or slightly loose habit, growing up to 1-2 m tall and of similar width. Leaves are seasonal, elliptical, dark green in summer, in autumn they turn orange-red, decorating the garden also after flowering.

🌱 Requirements and application:

It grows best in sunny to semi-shaded locations, in acidic, fertile and constantly moderately moist soils. It does not tolerate dryness of the root ball. The variety is completely frost hardy and does not require protection for the winter.
Recommended for home gardens, estate greenery, on heathlands, in naturalistic compositions, as well as for growing in containers on terraces and balconies. It is perfect as a colorful accent in the garden, in combination with other acid-loving plants or as a solitary against a green background.
