Description

Magnolia x loebneri is a hybrid of the cultivars Magnolia kobus (Japanese magnolia) and Magnolia stellata, bred by M.Loebner in 1914.
Magnolia x loebneri 'Mag's Pirouette' is a cultivar bred in Japan by Tetsuo Magaki.
Magnolia x loebneri 'Mag's Pirouette' is a small slow-growing shrub up to 2.5 m tall. It flowers early and profusely producing small, full and fragrant flowers. The wide-open flowers o reach up to 10 cm in diameter. The petals are elliptical with cream-white colour and numerous up to 25, resistant to slight frosts and wind. 'Mag's Pirouette' is a valued variety suitable for any type of garden - including small gardens. It can be grown for many years in large containers and is quite frost resistant.
Magnolia requires a humus, permeable, slightly acidic substrate and a shady, sunny position.
The cultivar 'Mag's Pirouette' has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
